Retirement planning

Retirement, planned.

An investment plan built for the years just before and during retirement, so the money you have worked hard for lasts, and you know how it will support you.

TWO MOMENTS

Two different conversations, depending on where you stand.

PLANNING TOWARDS IT

Five to fifteen years out

The years where small choices compound the most. We look at your savings capacity, your KiwiSaver settings, any managed funds, and how the picture needs to shift as the horizon shortens.

ALREADY THERE

Retirement, or close to it

The years where the question changes from saving to spending sustainably. We look at how much you can draw, from where, and how to shape the portfolio to handle a longer run than most people plan for.

WHAT WE LOOK AT

The inputs that decide how comfortable retirement can be.

Retirement planning is where investment strategy meets everyday life. The numbers matter, but so does how you want your days to look.

Income you will need

Grounded in how you actually live, not a textbook percentage of your current income. We walk through your fixed costs, the things you want to keep doing, and the buffer for the unexpected.

Sources of that income

NZ Super, KiwiSaver, other managed investments, and anything else you are relying on. We show how the pieces fit together and how the mix can shift over time.

How long the plan needs to work

Most people underestimate how long they might live. We use conservative assumptions so the plan is more likely to still be standing at the end of the horizon.

Risk you can carry in retirement

Comfort with market movement changes when income depends on the portfolio. We recalibrate accordingly, and revisit as circumstances shift.

HOW IT WORKS

A considered pace, roughly four to six weeks.

  1. 01

    Discovery

A longer first conversation, in person or by video call, covering how you want retirement to feel as much as what it costs.

  2. 02

    Modelling

We model income and drawdown scenarios against your assets, life expectancy assumptions, and inflation.

  3. 03

    The plan

A written retirement investment plan you can hold onto, with product recommendations and a review cadence.

  4. 04

    The long walk

Annual reviews from there on, with earlier meetings when something material changes.

COST AND SCOPE

A professional fee, agreed before we start.

Flat fee, quoted up front

Retirement planning takes more time than a single-product recommendation. The fee reflects that. We quote before we start, and you decide whether to proceed.

What is included

A written retirement-focused investment plan across your KiwiSaver and other managed investments, with modelling of income and drawdown, reviewed annually.

What is not included

The plan does not include insurance advice, estate planning, tax advice, aged-care planning, or advice on products outside managed investment schemes and KiwiSaver. Where those matter to your retirement, we note them and can point you to specialists.

WHY A HUMAN

An algorithm can sort your options. It cannot weigh your life.

A calculator can project a drawdown. A qualified adviser helps you decide how much to draw, when, and what to do when the plan meets real life.

A robo-adviser

  • Sorts funds against a fixed rule set. The same answers always produce the same output.
  • Cannot see the parts of your life that do not fit the form.
  • Stays silent when markets fall or your circumstances change.
  • No one is accountable for whether the answer was right for you.

A Renver adviser

  • Technology does the analysis, then a qualified adviser makes the call.
  • Weighs the whole picture: your goals, your comfort with risk, your life.
  • Reviews with you as things change, and is there when they do.
  • Regulated advice: a person reviews, decides, and stands behind it.

THE LONG WALK

Retirement is easier to enjoy when you know the plan.
